Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Bytesong Private Limited (“Bytesong,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Wake Better: Alarm & Routine mobile application (the “App”) for iOS. We have designed Wake Better to be privacy-first: most of your data stays on your device.
By downloading or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Data stored on your device
Your alarms, routines, schedules, sounds, labels, and in-app preferences are stored locally on your device (and, if you enable it, in your personal iCloud account). This content is not transmitted to or accessible by Bytesong.
Data you provide
If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your email address and the contents of your message.
Data collected automatically
To keep the App reliable, we and our service providers may collect limited diagnostic and usage information, such as app version, device model, operating system version, language, crash logs, and anonymous feature-usage events. This data is used in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.
Purchase information
If you buy a subscription or other in-app purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of your purchase and subscription status from Apple, but we never receive or store your full payment card details.
2. Device Permissions
The App may ask for the following permissions. Each is optional where possible, and the App will request it only when needed for a feature you use:
- Notifications — to deliver alarms and routine reminders.
- Critical Alerts / Sound — to ensure alarms can sound even when your device is in silent or Focus mode.
- Background App Refresh / Time-sensitive notifications — to reliably trigger alarms at the scheduled time.
You can review or change these permissions at any time in your device’s Settings.
3. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features;
- Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve performance and reliability;
- Understand which features are used so we can improve the App;
- Process and validate subscriptions and in-app purchases through Apple; and
- Respond to your support requests.
4. Advertising
The free version of the App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob may collect and use certain device information and identifiers (such as the Advertising Identifier / IDFA, approximate location derived from your IP address, and ad-interaction data). This processing is governed by Google’s privacy policy and the AdMob policies.
Subscribing to Wake Better Pro removes ads.
5. App Tracking Transparency
If we or our advertising partners use your data to deliver personalized ads or otherwise track you across apps and websites owned by other companies, we will first ask for your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized. You can review or change this choice at any time under Settings ’ Privacy & Security ’ Tracking. We do not track you for any purpose without your consent.
6. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services that process limited data on our behalf. Their use of information is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google AdMob — advertising
- Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymous usage analytics
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting
- Apple — in-app purchases, subscriptions, and (if enabled) iCloud sync
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With the third-party services listed above (including our advertising partner), solely so they can perform their services in connection with the App;
- To comply with the law, a legal process, or a valid governmental request; or
- To protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Bytesong.
8. Data Retention
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Diagnostic and analytics data collected by our service providers is retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above and then deleted or anonymized. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to assist you.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because most of your data lives only on your device:
- You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the relevant items in the App or by uninstalling the App.
- The App does not require you to create an account. If any account-related data exists, you may request its deletion by emailing us at bytesong1@gmail.com, and we will action your request as required by law.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
10. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International Users
Bytesong is based in India. If you use the App from outside India, any information processed by our service providers may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
